The Tippecanoe School Corporation has appointed Geoff Salmon and Gloria Grigsby as assistant principals at Harrison High School. Salmon will serve as dean of students and Grigsby will oversee student services and curriculum. TSC has selected Chris Bearden to fill the administrative assistant position that Grigsby vacated at McCutcheon.
Salmon holds a bachelor's and master's degree from Purdue University and has 11 years of experience in education as a teacher and administrator. He most recently served as the dean of students at Rossville Middle/High School.
"I am excited to accept this position in the Tippecanoe School Corporation where my wife has enjoyed working for the past 13 years," says Salmon. "This is a great opportunity to work under Principal Marshall and learn from all the great people at Harrison," says Salmon.
As dean of students, Salmon will conduct teacher evaluations, oversee daily and standardized testing schedules, lead the school's discipline program and oversee the school safety plan.
Harrison Principal Cory Marshall is excited to have Salmon join the administrative team. "His experience in similar roles at two other high schools will be invaluable in continuing to provide a safe and disciplined learning environment for our students and staff at Harrison," says Marshall.
The TSC selected Gloria Grigsby as an assistant principal for student services and curriculum. Grigsby, a Golden Apple award winning teacher, taught Spanish for 13 years and spent the last year and a half as an assistant principal at McCutcheon High School. She holds a bachelor's degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and a master's degree from Purdue University.
Principal Marshall says Grigsby has tremendous enthusiasm and passion for students. "Her skills in organization, knowledge of curriculum and the master schedule of a large high school, strengths with interpersonal communication, and her fluency in Spanish are attributes that make her an outstanding choice for Harrison High School," says Marshall.
As an assistant principal, Grigsby will oversee student services, scheduling, curriculum and teacher evaluations. "I will miss McCutcheon, my home since 2007, and have a lot of respect for the Maverick administration and staff," says Grigsby. "I am looking forward to being a part of the Raider community and hope to contribute to its strong academic success."
