Mrs. Chelsea Goodson is new to our Math Department at Harrison this fall. Originally from Illinois, Mrs. Goodson earned her bachelor's degree from Southern Indiana University, and she has three years of teaching experience. Mrs. Goodson has worked for the US Postal Service as well as at Girl Scouts of America residential camps. Mrs. Goodson is a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Theta Kappa, has traveled to Guatamala, Spain, and France, and she is planning an excursion to France and England this summer.
Mrs. Jill Baker is a long - standing member of our HHS Visual Arts Department while also serving as department chair. From Illinois, Jill attended Kankakee Community College, Eastern Illinois University, and Purdue University while obtaining her bachelor's and master's degrees. She is currently in her 35th year of teaching. A proud mother and grandmother, Mrs. Baker has served as Cheer leading coach, sponsored the Art club, Diversity club, and Academic Superbowl (Fine Arts Team), and worked with Live From Graff, Veterans Day Program, and Military Appreciation Night at HHS.
Mr. Jonathan Varga joins the Harrison staff for the 2017 - 2018 school year after teaching the previous two years at Battle Ground Middle School. Mr. Varga is a member of our Social Studies Department. He was a dean's list honoree while earning his degree at Ball State University. While at Battle Ground, Mr. Varga coached football and basketball, and he also sponsored the speech team and a spring break trip for students to Washington DC.
Mrs. Dana Ruhl teaches Spanish I in the Harrison World Languages Department. Mrs. Ruhl has twenty - two years of teaching experience, and she has attended and/or earned degrees from Indiana University Kokomo, Purdue University, and Indiana Wesleyan. Mrs. Ruhl has served as Harrison's Spanish Quiz Bowl coach and as a supervisor of the Spanish Peer Tutoring Program. She has been honored as Harrison's Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Ruhl has also worked as a teacher's aide, a waitress, and as a supervisor at Indiana Beach. She enjoys horseback riding, organic gardening, and landscaping.

Mr. Berry Layton returns in our Technology Department this year. Did you know that Mr. Layton is the teacher in our building with the most years of teaching experience at Harrison (34 years at HHS)? Berry holds multiple degrees from Purdue University, and he has also served HHS in the past through coaching basketball, track, and cross country. Outside of Harrison, Mr. Layton has worked with ALCOA, Caterpillar, Sears, and as a fishing guide.
Please welcome Mr. Justin Wissing to our Harrison English Department. Justin has previous high school teaching experience in Logansport, where he also helped coach football and Academic Super Bowl. Mr. Wissing has degrees from DePauw University and Indiana University. Outside of the classroom, Justin has worked as a salesperson as well as in a college admissions department, and he is a published author. We are happy to add Mr. Wissing to the English Department!
